500,000 Questions Asked!
The other day the site passed quite a milestone. Half a million questions. Quite amazing. Now, if only I had have charged a dollar for every question...
I'm thinking of adding a discussion forum to the site. what do you think?
Apart from that - all is well here. Last night I went and saw Jose Gonzalez at the Hammersmith Apollo. He is incredible. If you ever get a chance to go see him, then Go! Even if you're not a fan of guitar music. Well worth seeing.
That's all! Sorry for the lack of updates to the blog. I love you all!

Congrats.
About the discussion forum, I think this could be a pretty good idea, although will give you a lot more work, unless you have some trustworthy moderators.
Also, I think that you should be able to accompany your rating with a comment, so if someone has particularly helped you, you can at least say thanks. What do you think?
I'm wary of a forum because it might quickly devolve into elitest nonsense and flame wars the way just about every other forum does. I can easily picture myself going to it every time I get what I think of as a negative rating I didn't deserve and that sort of tiresome whining nobody needs to see. And you probably don't want to make it moderated because I imagine the site already takes up enough of your time.
Though possibly it could be for subscribers only as a way to limit it to serious users and, more importantly, make a little money for the site at last.
On the plus side, it could have a FAQ- not only for how the site works but also answers like "Yes, I like Pizza." and "My most embarrasssing moment was the time my fly was open and I had no underwear when I met the Queen."
Before a forum, I'd like to see the "Skip this question" button and the e-mail to individual users option. Them's my two cents.
Wow. That's a lot of questions.
I don't think a forum is a really good idea - the forum part of the site wouldn't be anonymous, and it would take away some of the sweetness of the place.
In a comment on one of your last couple of updates, someone said something about being able to send private messages to the person who answers your question, to discuss, etc.
Just wanted to say that i think that is an awesome idea.
Peace.
Just curious.... two nights in a row I've asked how long it would take to burn a corpse. Both times I've got silly answers, yet they get put under "featured Questions".
Do you like corpses? Or do you ust want to diversify the types of questions on the 'featured Questions" list?
(I would ask quesiton swap... but...)
Having just received my first REALLY low score for what was, objectively speaking, a pretty good answer to a potentially stupid question, I'm raising again the suggestion that one low score per X number of ratings (50?) be automatically eliminated. Also, is there some way to flag problem users who habitually give low ratings and just eliminate their scores and scoring priveleges?
Lizzy- sometimes now answers are featured by users. That is likely what happened to your corpse questions- the people that answered them liked their answers.
What if?
Two members could jump off from a Q/A and talk, directly, without interference.
Sometimes something interesting is written and I regret the fact that there is no way to follow-up.
On the other hand, it does give it a nice enigmatic flavor.
I think we should have a QuestionSwap messenger! Instant answers to questions!
